At 1:30 PM UAE time on May 1, the H-beam reheating furnace EP project in Abu Dhabi, built by MCC Huatian for Oman’s AJS Group, was successfully ignited. The ignition marks the beginning of furnace drying and hot commissioning, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent production ramp-up.
Located in the Abu Dhabi desert, the project covers equipment installation, commissioning, and trial operation for the reheating furnace system. It is an important benchmark for Huatian’s deeper cooperation with AJS Group and its expansion in the Middle East market. For AJS Group, once completed, the RHF will help ensure stable operation of the H-beam line under high temperatures and sandstorms, improve heating efficiency and energy utilization, and reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs.
Since project launch, the team has strictly followed international standards and client requirements. The site lies deep in the desert, where surface temperatures often exceed 60°C and sandstorms are frequent. With limited local industrial support, most construction materials and supplies had to be shipped from China, resulting in long lead times and difficult cross-regional coordination. The team adapted the construction plan to suit desert conditions, adjusted working schedules, and tightened quality control to keep the project on track.
During a critical phase, the team travelled to the site over the Chinese New Year period. Only six days after their arrival, regional instability sharply increased safety risks, disrupted transport and communications, and threatened the supply chain. The team remained on site, steadily advancing cold commissioning of equipment and piping, while company leaders provided remote guidance and support. The team systematically verified safety conditions and technical parameters, secured the necessary prerequisites, and ultimately created the conditions for the successful ignition of the reheating furnace.
The ignition is a major project milestone. Looking ahead to hot commissioning and final acceptance, the team will maintain high standards in quality and safety, address any emerging challenges, and work to complete the project. The experience gained will also strengthen Huatian’s capability to deliver projects in complex overseas environments and support further development in the Middle East market.
